The mind follows the body, and our bodies respond to breath.
Breathing is far more than the unconscious functioning of our autonomic nervous system, which we usually take for granted. In many languages the word for spirit and breath are one in the same, suggesting that breathing is the movement of spirit in matter. Breath is the foundation for self-care and well-being. In the Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods, breath becomes our music; both soundtrack for and partner to our movements. By coordinating breath and physical movement harmoniously, we assist our body into a state of eurythmia.
